Hex Cap Screws have hexagonal heads and machine threads for use with a nut or in a tapped hole. They are generally used in precise applications such as OEM settings where tight tolerances are required. The most common grades for Inch Standard Hex Cap Screws are 2, 5 and 8.
Some of the basic features of a Hex Cap Screws are as follows:
- Flat washer facing under the head that meets specific tolerances outlined in ASME B18.2.1-1996
- Manufactured by a cold-heading process
- A radius under the head at the shank
- Tighter tolerances than a standard Hex bolt
- No seams across any bearing surfaces
